Top concert piano feared for his hands during attack

Top concert pianist Karl Lutchmayer’s first thought as he was set upon in London by three teenage muggers, was for the safety of his hands.

Though he gave up his wallet straight away, he was savagely beaten with a plank of wood.

Though he needed hospital treatment, his hands were thankfully unscathed.

“Being a pianist I am very aware of looking after my hands so I dropped to the floor.

“I remember being on my left-hand side and continued to receive – very savagely – blows and kicks from what I think was all of the group.”
