Although the biggest collaboration news from Native Instruments is its integration with Akai’s new MPC3 system, NI has also announced the launch of its Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) Hardware Partner Program.
In a nutshell this means that hardware from a wide range of controllers can now install and use NI sounds.

The current range of manufacturers and controllers which can use NI sounds is:
- Akai: MPK Mini Series
- Novation: Launchkey MK3 and MK4, FLKey, SL MK3
- Nektar: Impact LX25+
- Korg: Keystage controllers
- M-Audio: Latest Oxygen Series keyboards
Owners of NKS-ready hardware are eligible to a free copy of Komplete 15 Select production software, choosing from Beats Edition, Band Edition or Electronic Edition.
The company says that this integration means users of many different hardware controllers get hands-on control without lengthy setups or distractions, while paving the way for advanced features in future products.
The exact upgrade path for each manufacturer and instrument is to be confirmed, but integration should be rolling out within the next few months. Updates will be posted at native-instruments.com/nks.
