Akai has made its much-hyped instrument, the MPC Key 37, official. It’s a powerful standalone MPC desktop synth with onboard sampling, plugin instruments, insert effect, Splice integration, and more.
Sporting three octaves of full-size keys, it’s big enough to be able to handle a lot of creation tasks, including two-hand playing of chords and melody, yet is still compact enough to be portable. The keys are aftertouch enabled, and there’s pitch bend and modulation wheels plus four Q-Link knobs for precise 360-degree manipulation of levels and parameters.
There’s a gorgeous 7-inch touch screen plus 4×4 bank of velocity sensitive RGB pads. The screen is used for many loop and sample manipulation tasks. Connectivity includes direct USB MIDI, 5-pin MIDI jacks, 4x TRS CV/Gate output jacks and a USB host port. There’s also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless connections.
Also coming soon is the ability to control stems with the instrument, using MPC Stems, for smooth audio stem extracting and chopping from almost any source.
