Arturia has launched firmware version 2 for the AstroLab range of keyboards, with two main enhancements leading the way — the Sound Edit feature and a range of new acoustic sounds.

Sound Edit
This is Arturia’s headline feature, allowing more control over voice and multi sound changes and development.
Instead of relying on macros, a range of parameters that make up each voice can be edited directly from the AstroLab hardware. Up to five pages with four parameters on each are easily accessible — of course they change with each voice as required.
On each page of four, the control knobs light up to show the current value of the associated parameter. Once happy with the changes, the user can quickly save the new values.
It also works on multis, easily selecting between the two voices, with colour coding for easy identification.
Sound Edit is available on most instruments.
Acoustic Sounds
There are some 60 new acoustic sounds in the update, including a new pure grand piano sound with eight velocity layers, plus funk, orchestral brass, pop strings, and upright and electric basses.
Reliable Performance
Other updates include improvements to sampler polyphony, Analog Lab linking and updating, better aftertouch feel on the 37-key model, and a reworked preset list.
