If you’ve ever tapped, scratched or blown into any kind of microphone, you probably already understand a little of what this interesting little Eurorack module is about. The RADAR is a contact and pickup microphone module which lets you create “beats, ambient noises and otherworldly sound effects”.
As the name suggests, it sports a pickup microphone placed underneath the surface of the module. Tapping or scratching the textured surface converts those into signals which can be patched into any other module.
The pickup on the RADAR is sensitive enough to capture surrounding acoustic waves, which can then be converted into gate or envelope signals and tweaked with the gate sensitivity or attack/decay controls.
