CME has launched its C2MIDI Pro, claiming it as the MIDI cable redefined. Now, getting excited about cables isn’t everyone’s thing, no matter how dedicated you are, but this one has a few tricks up its sleeve which may warrant a closer look.
It’s not just a dumb cable, but instead features a “future-proof” 32-bit processor allowing for 4x precision data transfer. It’s a high-speed optocoupler — which I had to look up and I’m now so much more on board with the “semiconductor device which is used to couple isolated circuits”. In other words, it’ll seamlessly sync all MIDI devices.
100% accurate transfer of dense MIDI data, which is obviously important, with no latency, jitter, or drop-outs.
And it will perform high-speed processing of all MIDI messages, including clock, system exclusive, MIDI Time Code (MTC) and MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE).
The cable can be operated in two modes:
- USB MIDI interface mode lets you connect your computer via USB-C to MIDI hardware which is using the original 5-pin DIN ports.
- Smart MIDI Cable Mode lets you directly connect two MIDI devices using 5-pin DIN power from the MIDI out port.
