Jurors selecting finalists for this year’s Cleveland International Piano Competition have selected the four semi-finalists who will advance to the final round and perform a piano concerto with the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall.
They are:
- Francois Dumont, of France;
- Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev, of Russia;
- Jiayan Sun, of China;
- Stanislav Khristenko, of Russia
Contestants will perform on Friday and Saturday night. Dumont and Sun will perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No 1, while Tarasevich-Nikolaev will perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No 2 and Khristenko will perform Brahms’ Piano Concerto No 1.
Each pianist will receive a prize of at least $10,000, with the winner scooping $50,000, three years of artist management, a recital at Carnegie Hall, and a CD recording.
