The Digitaize Strings module is a “powerhouse” which claims to be the fastest polyphonic pitch-to-MIDI currently available, and all in a compact module which mounts easily and unobtrusively to a violin.
The patented sensor fingerboard ensures unmatched tracking of finger movement and accurate real-time pitch detection. With a resolution of over 4000 points (14-bit) it captures every performance nuance.
On board is a dual microphone setup: a digital MEMS microphone and a pick-up delivering high quality, uncompressed audio. And it’s wireless, so no struggling to play with a heavy and clumsy wire trailing from the instrument. Latency is below 10ms, with sound streamable to the dedicated audio plugin for use in any DAW.
The motion tracking opens up new possibilities for controlling virtual instruments and parameters. A built in gyroscope and accelerometer allow for instant mapping of instrument movements with a click.
