Erae II entering Kickstarter next month, summer release

Sadly, not being in attendance at this year’s NAMM show, we weren’t able to see some of the gear which seemed to fly under the radar of press releases or other announcements and instead had teaser releases on social media. One such was that of Embodme showing off a pre-funding prototype of a second generation of ERAE.

We don’t have a lot of information about this new device, except that it will build upon the existing model (which won’t be losing support itself), will enter Kickstarter funding round in mid-February. and could be available come this summer. Judging by the interest there should be no problem with it securing the crowdfunding it requires.

Sounds as if the new version places less reliance on the accompanying app, or the surface itself, and has additional control buttons for dialling in layout changes and such like. There’s a new MIDI looper, and a high-res screen. It boasts some 16,000 sensors with “sub-millimetre accuracy”. It will also have swappable cover skins, to cater for different playing styles such as fingers or drumsticks. Connectivity is also said to be much enhanced.

Kickstarter pricing will be from $549 with the final gear retailing at $799, according to current reports.
