Overview

The Yamaha PSR-E583 is a home keyboard released this year. It is marketed primarily to home musicians.

The PSR-E583 has 61 synth/organ style full sized keys with touch sensitivity but no aftertouch. It has 64 notes of polyphony. It has hundreds of on board sounds including pianos and real world sounds, accompaniments and rhythms, and a sustain/damper pedal.

It uses Yamaha's AWM sound generation. Advanced Wave Memory is a classic high-quality sample playback and layering engine.

It has the ability to record and play back user performances. It has built-in MIDI capabilities. It has no built-in learning system. It has a built-in amplifier and speakers. It can run from both AC and battery power.

The keyboard is a decent choice for children. It's very much an entry level model, making it cheaper but also with fewer functions or lower quality sounds than more expensive keyboards. It's a part of the PSR family of instruments, whose models span from 1984 to the present day. The keyboard was released this year, with the PSR family still adding new models.

Automatically generate style data from your existing MIDI song library. Easily change standard MIDI files into dynamic, full-fledged Styles, complete with intros, endings, and drum fills.

Live Control Knobs

When playing live, assign aspects of your musical performance to the Live Control Knobs, altering the characteristics of your sound on the fly.

Pitch Bend Wheel

Moving the pitch bend wheel up or down changes the note you're playing smoothly, bringing instrument Voices like guitars, sax and trumpet and synthesizers to life, widening your range of expression.

Modulation Wheel

Adds effects like vibrato, organ rotary speaker, and other effects to modify your sound in real-time while performing.

Expression Pedal

Increase or lower your output, independent of the master volume knob, freeing up your hands. (sold separately)

Motion Effect

Control different effects like phasers, tremolo, and other moving effects with the touch of a button.

Free up your hands during performances, practicing complex pieces, or building song sections by recording and looping chord progressions, drums patterns and musical phrases.

Auto Chord Play

Expand your performance range with the convenient Auto Chord Play function, which automatically plays back the predetermined chord progression while you’re playing a Style, freeing you up to solo or experiment – without worrying about playing the changes.

Connectivity & Output

A variety of connectivity options provide all the support you need for practicing, playing, and performing. Plug in a microphone to try your hand at singing while playing, use the Rec'n'Share app to share your music with the world, and hook into PA systems to perform on stage.
