KORG KRONOS gets a revamp with new sounds and user interface

Fourteen years after KORG introduced the KRONOS, the renowned workstation is back with a revamp, featuring new sounds and an improved user interface.

New features to wow the audience include a large number of new sound programs, including an Italian piano, a Tine EP, FM EPs, synth pads, leads and more. There’s also some expertly curated sounds created in collaboration with twelve world-class sound designers.

The new KRONOS is preloaded with many iconic KRONOS sound libraries including the best of TRITON, Pro Splits and Layers, and Ensemble Combinations.

The large, responsive TouchView display is now faster and more responsive, and offers at-a-glance access to vital information and settings. It takes the best of previous models and enhances it, so existing KRONOS users will feel at home while new users will be quickly up to speed. Startup time is now 60% faster than previous models.

KRONOS has nine distinct sound engines on board:

  • SGX-2
  • EP-1
  • CX-3
  • HD-1
  • MS-20EX
  • Polysix EX
  • AL-1
  • MOD-7
  • STR-1

Sequencer tools include KARMA, an algorithmic music technology for creating sophisticated phrases, drum goober and backing tracks; Drum Tracks, first seen on the M3, for creating everything from simple beats to full-blown drum tracks; Open Sampling System for capturing audio samples; a 16-track MIDI sequencer and 16-track audio recorder; plus 16 onboard effects processors.

This 4th generation KRONOS features a powder-coated metal body for durability and tactility, with black wood side panels and a sophisticated edge.

KRONOS comes in three sizes — the 88 and 73 key KRONOS models feature RH-3 Real Weighted Hammer Action keyboards, while the 61-key model has a natural touch semi-weighted action with aftertouch.

For those current users wondering about support, KORG has stated that existing KRONOS and NAUTILUS owners will have access to a Soundpack in the second half of 2025 that brings the latest KRONOS sounds to earlier models.

Exact pricing and availability to be confirmed.
