Here’s a very insightful video made by Steinway & Sons, giving a tour of their factory and explaining many of the processes which go into making one of their top-end, unique grand pianos. It’s narrated by the late John Steinway.
The 8-minute video doesn’t cover every aspect of the production and assembly process, such as the manufacture of the keys themselves, but it’s still very informative and shows just how much painstaking and dedicated work goes into the creation of each instrument, and why quality grand pianos command such a high price.
