Nérée from the Sea?
We’re curious about the Nérée tactile synth which has recently shown up on Kickstarter and is now fully backed and launching soon.
Shaped like a whale (or is it a dolphin) is not a surprise because Nérée is a French name derived from the Greek sea god known as “the Old Man of the Sea” and associated with water, wisdom and prophecy.

What is Nérée?
Apart from the rather cool and unusual shape of the instrument, what does it do?
Developer Rouchaud Yvain says Nérée is a standalone sampler, synth, DAW and drum sequencer played with touch, pressure and movement.
It doesn’t require a computer, though of course creations can be exported to work, share and save elsewhere.
Nérée Feature Overview
The main features of Nérée are:
- 24-pad capacitive touch surface which responds to notes, pressure, movement and performance control.
