Walrus Audio has announced the imminent availability of the Qi Etheralizer (pronounced “chee ethereal-izer”). This multi-effects pedal combining chorus, delay, granular effects and reverb has been created in collaboration with Yvette Young.
Young is known for her innovative and explorative fingerstyle playing technique, love of guitar pedals, and leadership of the math rock band Covet, the Qi reflects her approach to creating lush, evolving soundscapes. Named after the vital life energy that flows through all living things, the Qi is designed to deliver rich textures, expansive atmospheres, and dynamic layers. By blending Yvette’s artistic vision with cutting-edge design, the Qi opens the door to immersive, otherworldly sounds.
With the Qi yo can mix and match chorus, delay and grain, and run in series or parallel to create inspiring sounds.
Walrus Audio has put its proprietary MDSP digital processing platform on the device, which boasts high-fidelity audio and innovative design. It features the ARM Cortex M7 processor honed for advanced audio algorithm processing, and combines a microcontroller and DSP in a single compact unit.
Qi Etherealizer controls include a space knob to add reverb, tone knob for controlling the cutoff of a low pass filter, series and parallel options, mix/dry parameter, grain cloud for triggering random small samples, phrase sample for rhythmic grain manipulation, and five grain playback modes. Delay and chorus effects can also be customised.
