Roland has announced a limited edition version of its highly acclaimed SP-404MKII sampler as it teams up with Stones Throw Records to release a unit with custom panel artwork designed by Jeff Jank, exclusive sample banks, and new music created by musicians at Stones Throw.
If looks are as important as sound, then this one may impress you with its high-shine aluminium faceplate and custom artwork. Audio-wise, it includes new sound banks crafted by Stones Throw Records’ roster, plus a collector’s package with a 7″ vinyl record and mixtape.
The SP-404MKII Stones Throw Limited Edition includes ten full banks of brand-new samples and patterns from Kiefer, Sudan Archives, Mndsgn, J.Rocc, and DJ Harrison. Each bank contains 16 patterns and 16 samples.
Those extras? The seven-inch vinyl record features two certified burners from Kiefer and Mndsgn—constructed using their custom SP sound banks—while the cassette mixtape by DJ icon J.Rocc has an exclusive 30-minute remix of music from the SP-404MKII x Stones Throw artists.
