Illegal State of Mind has shown off his RudeBox ESP32-A1S-based drum synthesiser, which he says started as a simple synth-tom experiment and then evolved into a more flexible percussion synth.
Played dynamically from an external drum pad (though I presume you could use anything that generates velocity), RudeBox features controls to allow oscillator shaping, changing pitch envelope, amplitude decay and transient click/noise.
