Scaler Music has announced the next version of its Scaler EQ is due for release on 23rd September.
Scaler EQ Pro brings “musical intelligence” to every stage of mixing, mastering and sound design, shaping frequencies in relation to notes, scales and harmony rather than simply the raw frequency itself.
Scaler has patented note-aware equalisation and EQ Pro builds on this with new filter technology, smoother and more natural harmonic peak filtering, continuously variable slopes, dedicated bass and high-frequency compression, continuous gain match, and MIDI-controlled Live Mode.
The filter redesign mimics how humans actually hear audio, accurately targeting note frequencies, and blending smoothly around each other. By default, frequencies which belong to a certain key and scale are boosted, while others are decreased or removed.
A striking new feature is the MIDI-controlled Live Mode, which effectively lets you “play” EQ as a performance. EQ Pro boosts or cuts frequencies in real time, with velocity controlling how much processing is applied and ADSR envelope for shaping how EQ processing moves over time.
It runs standalone or as a plugin. Existing Scaler EQ users will get discount pricing on an upgrade, while anyone purchasing Scaler EQ now gets the upgraded free at launch, saving $40.
