Shik has announced its S32 standalone MIDI processor/macro controller is due to ship in September.
DAW users have been able to manipulate MIDI with all manner of plugins, but this standalone hardware unit does a whole heap of functions on its own, including building and executing complex macros, using real-time MIDI effects, LFO modulation, CV compatibility, and flexible routing across multiple gear.
The 32 high resolution macro knobs can send up to four MIDI messages at once, with per-message channel, routing, min/max, invert, pickup and MIDI Learn all available to program.
Any parameter in MIDI effects, connected devices or internal LFOs can be assigned and controlled as a macro, including easily assignments even when playing live.
The powerful MIDI processing engine offers stackable, customisable racks. MIDI can be shaped with harmoniser, scale remap, arpeggiator, Turing machine, polyphonic envelope, euclidean sequencer, looper, delay, randomiser, filters, mergers, routers and more.
Sixteen inbuilt LFOs allow for modulation of any parameter inside MIDI effects or the output of a macro. Each LFO is fully adjustable, from waveform and rate to phase, offset and depth. LFOs can modulate other LFOs, for complex, evolving movement.
The S32 is all metal cased with a 3.12″ OLED display, internal flash memory and microSD support. Connections include MIDI USB, MIDI In, MIDI Out x 2, MIDI Thru, Micro HDMI for external modules, and USB host.
RRP is expected to be around $529.
