So it doesn’t feel as if we’re talking about nothing but Suno (unlike seemingly a lot of people on social media, we’ve no affiliation with them whatsoever) we’ve bundled the latest recent announcements into a single post.
Studio 2.0
Perhaps the biggest news for end users is that of the second version of Suno’s browser-based DAW.

New features in Suno Studio 2.0 include:
- MIDI: the most requested (and pretty important) addition, allows for importing, recording and editing MIDI directly on the timeline.
- Sound designer: create sounds with the wavetable synth.
- MIDI clips can be used as prompts for new audio generations.
- Use controller keyboard or regular typing keyboard for playing notes.
- Chat bar added for creating instruments, vocals and the like.
- Stem separation at latest version.
- Audio effects and studio plugins designer.
- Automation: as you’d expect.
- Download and export with no limits (does that sit well with Suno ethics? Apparently the “no limits” here outrank the new download limits — see below.)
Studio 2.0 is available now to Suno Premier subscribers, and this blog post outlines the features and guiding principles.
BMG Partnership
Perhaps with the thought of appeasing big music labels concerned about AI, Suno has announced a ‘landmark global partnership’ with BMG.

Apparently, “the most ambitious future for AI and music is one built together, with artists and songwriters at the table and human creativity at the centre.” Those principles recently laid out will shape the new relationship with BMG.
At the moment, the deal is described more with fluffy ideals and corporate speak than anything concrete — “open dialogue”, “meeting artists”, “supporting independent artists”, “investing directly in independent artists and their vision.”
How it pans out remains to be seen, along with how much red tape is introduced. Record labels aren’t historically known for moving fast on new technology, particularly if there’s any sniff of it reducing their profits. Then again, we all know AI is already being used extensively in the music industry from the very top down, so who knows.
You can read about it here.
Terms of Service update
Those reams of jargon-filled paragraphs no-one reads properly and then gets stung with later on — Suno has summarised some of the upcoming ToS and download limits which will come into force on 3rd September.
New Models
A new generation of Suno models — developed in partnership with the music industry — are to be released soon, promising to be better than anything they’ve released before: faster outputs, higher quality audio, and more control. These will completely replace all existing models, but work created using older models will still be playable and shareable.
Downloads
New limits will come into place based on membership tier:
- Free: Up to 7 (lifetime) trial downloads
- Pro: 20 downloads per month
- Premier: 60 downloads per month
Extra downloads can be purchased. Who knew?
So there we go, that’s about it for Suno for now.
