SuperCritical Redshift 6 analog synth launched

SuperCritical recently announced the launch of its Redshift 6 analog variable character synthesiser, which takes technology from previous products — the Demon Core Oscillator and the Neutron Flux Filter.

Each of the six voices has a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO), with an analog four-pole filter core designed to act like almost any classic vintage synth filter.

Being a “Variable Character Synthesiser” means each voice’s analog path with regards to tuning, gain staging, filter and more is under digital control.

The oscillator, already road-tested in the Demon Core Oscillator Eurorack module, is featured in each of the six voices of Redshift 6. It offers a variety of powerful modes, each wrapped as an Engine for the user to choose from. These modes include traditional twin oscillator engines, supersaw engines, flanging phase sync engines, and transistor organ engines, all of which are user-friendly, easily controllable, and modulatable.

Redshift 6’s six voices can be configured in numerous ways. Users can choose between true six-voice polyphony, classic vintage poly dual layer mode with 3+3 voices, six individual voices each with its own patch and physical output, or any combination of the above. Each of the six voices can also operate as a paraphonic voice, capable of playing up to 16 notes simultaneously. Additionally, multiple filters can be chained by routing audio from one voice to another.

The Redshift 6 has a modern, compact desktop design with a 2.7-inch color screen. Menu navigation is streamlined, with quick access to various features via the shortcut button grid. Familiar synth controls are prominently displayed on the front panel. A macro mode is included, allowing users to assign six user-assignable controls. The back panel features main audio outputs, a DSP effects processor, and four auxiliary voice outputs.

One of Redshift 6’s key design principles is to provide a versatile and capable analog platform paired with a flexible user interface for new Engines. This allows for easy updates via software updates, ensuring that users always have access to the latest features and capabilities.
