Native Instruments has announced a collaboration with GRAMMY-winning British producer A. G. Cook to release the SuperStarSaw synth.
A supersaw is created by combining multiple sawtooth waves, layered and slightly detained from one another, and can be heard in many of modern pop’s hits from the likes of Charli xcx, Beyonce, Caroline Polachek and Oklou.

The instrument has been built over the past two years by NI’s design team, working directly with Cook’s meticulously crafted patches and production sessions – turning painstaking editing into an instrument that’s ready to play.
Cook explains, “I’ve always been interested in sounds that can flip between harsh and beautiful, so our main goal was to create something as expressive as possible, that could turn itself inside out with a single click or drag. We used a lot of my own experiments as a starting point, but didn’t stop until it felt like its own instrument, with its own unpredictable musical outcomes. I’ve used it in countless sessions while developing the plugin and haven’t ended up making the same thing twice.”
Saw Inside
At the heart of the SuperStarSaw are two independent 16-saw oscillator banks. A four-corner X/Y morpher captures four distinct patch states and allows continues interpolation between them. A single performance gesture replaces extensive automation.
It includes musical constraint tools including chord, scale and quantise, as well as controlled off-grid deviation for intentional dissonance. There are controls for glide and offset, offering control over motion and audio ‘smears’.
It comes with a wide preset library covering a range of styles and sounds, and it integrates with Komplete Kontrol keyboards and Maschine.
SuperStarSaw retails for $99/€99. Check out the best deal on SuperStarSaw at Plugin Boutique.
