KeySolutions Sounds has announced the release of its Traveler cinematic hybrid synth, artist-built and centred around expression.

Aimed at composers, producers and sound designers, combining the depth of classic hardware instruments with the flexibility to forge entirely new sonic territory.
Built on three continuously variable oscillators spanning six octaves with real-time waveform modulation, each oscillator has its own unique capabilities:
- Oscillator 1 has sync and linear and exponential FM
- Oscillator 2 has a 7-voice unison “Super” stack with detune and stereo spread
- Oscillator 3 can switch to wavetable mode with 85 wavetables, universal format import and Duo stacking with stereo spread.
Filters wise, it has a choice of low-pass ladder filters and a NJM2069-style 24 and 12dB/octave filter, as used on the Korg DW-8000 and DSS-1.
Envelopes can be shaped in standard ADSR or expanded ADBSSR, which is great for evolving sounds.
There’s an inbuilt sequencer and arpeggiator. Control Tracks are modulation sequencers. Each can generate a repeating series of control values and route that movement to a selected destination. Will differing step lengths, rates, smoothing, swing, randomisation and ping-pong, they’re great for rhythmic filter movement, wavetable animation, stereo motion, evolving effects and more.
The arpeggiator has independent oscillator destinations along with its own direction, range, speed, gate, swing, destination, latch and pedal controls.
Effects include EQ, chorus, delay and reverb.
Sound designers who have been involved in the creation of Traveler include:
- Mike Martin
- Venus Theory
- David Helpling
- Scott McAuley
- James Terris
- James Dyson
- Drew Schlesinger
- John “Skippy” Lehmkuhl
- Tom Hammer
