Another review, this time from BoBeats:

Building from scratch a piano-like electronic instrument

The main goal of this project was to build this instrument by myself. I defined some requirements:

  • 5 octaves (61 keys) on the physical keyboard, with possibility to easily transpose up or down
  • keys working on-off only, no detection of velocity, pressure
  • polyphony, be able to play more notes than there are fingers
  • definable waveform and envelope
  • reuse the user interface board from the washing machine
  • originally I didn’t plan for all the potentiometers but I changed my mind as it would not be comfortable to change those things from the menu
  • MIDI support was considered as an option
