The wonderfully quirky and playful Orbita from Playtronica has been doing the rounds for quite some time now (since around 2021) and we kinda missed it. Oops! So we’re using the excuse that only now is it available for sale to the general public to put that right.
Orbita is a tactile MIDI-enabled music synthesiser based on a rotating circle with four concentric circles onto which magnetic discs can be placed to create tones.
Anyone who enjoys experimenting with music and sound, whether they’re beginners or seasoned musicians, may well appreciate the design and execution of the Orbita.
Possibilities for use include:
- creating magnets and rhythms simply by placing magnets on the spinning turntable
- experimenting with up to four simultaneous melodic and rhythmic loops
- connecting to DAWs and other software via MIDI to use as part of another project or with other sounds and effects
- playing with an easy-to-use online synthesiser, with no downloads required
- live performances, education or casual jamming sessions.
