Expressive E continues to develop the Osmose synth controller keyboard first shown off over three years ago, with the release of firmware version 2.3.
This free update offers more extensive integration with leading DAWs, as well as general MIDI connectivity improvements, a new ‘action bar’ for accessing certain features more quickly, plus a free licence to Ctrl-e for every user.

Ctrl-e
Ctrl-e is a library of sounds, instruments and performance-ready controls carefully created and curated for use on the Osmose. They’re MPE ready, meaning your expressive playing converts to responsive sounds.
Currently over 900 presets are included covering analog modelling, wavetable, digital, physical modelling, hybrid and expressive engines.
Each preset features a compact set of macros for easily transforming sounds in real time. The library is fully searchable, presets can be edited, refined and saved.

Smart DAW control
Deeper integration with a DAW directly from the Osmose means less switching between keyboard and computer, and so keeps you in the creative flow for longer.
Integration includes transport controls, metronome, navigation through tracks and other units, mix controls. Other buttons are customisable to handle undo/redo, octave changing and transposition, tap tempo and so on.
External MIDI mode
Osmose saves and recalls MIDI configurations, makes full use of its MPE capabilities for pairing with plugins and other instruments that can handle the additional data, or dialling in functions such as arpeggiation for using with plugins and devices that don’t use MPE.
Action Bar
The Action Bar gives access to features such as transposition, press glide, arpeggiator, and other settings.
MIDI
Osmose’s MIDI integration has been reorganised, exposing five dedicated MIDI ports to the connected computer with clearly defined roles for external MIDI and so on.
